Building bridges: faith organizations and public health transformation

At Interfaith Public Health Network, we build bridges between faith communities and public health experts to promote a holistic public health awareness, cultivate partnerships to transform public health, and advocate for systems and policies that address health disparities, promote health equity, and support health and well-being for all.

The foundations of community health are shaped by the systems around us. The places we live, play, work, and worship all affect our health and well-being. They shape the food we eat, the resources we have access to, the homes we live in, the jobs we get, and the relationships we have.

Health is about so much more than healthcare. The policies we put in place–like investments in affordable housing or expanding access to healthy food–affect the choices we make for our health and the health of our communities. Sometimes these systems fail to keep us healthy or even actively cause us harm.

We’re invested in what keeps people and communities healthy and how people of diverse faiths and traditions can work together alongside public health experts to address health disparities, promote health equity, and foster a holistic public health awareness.

That’s why we’re on a mission to bring together the collective voice of faith communities with public health expertise to transform the systems and policies that shape our health and well-being.

We believe everyone has a role to play in shaping public health, including faith communities

Faith

Faith and religion impact individual well-being, and faith teachings guide our motivations and actions.

Health

People of faith working in health ministries serve as healthcare providers and health promoters, from meeting basic needs to running hospitals.

Community

Faith communities act as agents of public health policy change through campaigns, education, and partnership with public health institutions.

When you combine public health expertise with faith-inspired community voices invested in transforming public health, you get a powerful partnership–one that can create real change in the systems, policies, and environments that affect our health and well-being.

Your gift makes a difference
